FoodCorps Applications Open for School-Based Programs
Deadline March 25 for service year 2012-2013
By Press Release

Dear friend of FoodCorps,

We’ve got a problem. All over this country there are children who need a connection to healthy food. At the same time, there are future public health leaders, future chefs and future farmers trying to launch their careers during tough economic times.

The good news is we have a solution. Today, FoodCorps launches recruitment for its next class of AmeriCorps service members!

We are seeking up to 100 future leaders to address childhood obesity and food insecurity through our three-ingredient recipe for change: providing hands-on nutrition education, growing school gardens, and getting healthy local food into the school cafeteria. FoodCorps service members join the AmeriCorps service network and receive a $15,000 stipend plus other benefits in return for a year of full-time public service improving the health of vulnerable kids.

Service member Graham Downey in Mississippi told us why he loves being part of FoodCorps: “My ‘entry-level position’ involves deep responsibility for real-world projects that directly improve lives. My ‘workplace’ is a garden.”

Join our team in 2012 and make your home base a garden.

Curt, Deb, Cecily and the FoodCorps team

P.S. Would someone you know make a great service member, post this recruitment news on Facebook to let your friends know!
